BLIZZARD ENTERTAINMENT
world of warcraft: class page

launch [+]

Provided for Blizzard Entertainment, this redesigned class page for the infamous World of Warcraft game title aims to fulfill the cardinal rule of entertainment design: make it fun. This case study was an incredibly enjoyable project and I feel it gives a preview of my skillsets and creativity being applied in unison.

An animation of a large, fan-art character portrait is the visual focus at the top of the page. Utilizing Flash animation and recorded video, I brought this painting to un-life to depict the Death Knight harnessing runic power from his latest victim. Our anti-hero is flanked by a frozen and blood-stained parchment that details his origin. A pre-loader is also provided to maintain visual unity for users of varying connection speeds.

Given the "LFG Dungeon Finder" tool's success and utility, I included demonstrative buttons that would serve as links to further detail the roles that this class fulfills.

Further example of the mechanics and playstyle are given by fully-functional, streaming clips. Each clip provides a reasonable expectation of the kind of fun one would would experience in each spec and entices viewers to imagine themselves playing the class. Effort was specifically made to showcase the iconic skills unique to each talent tree.

Other important class details are provided in a familiar and consistent theme. A larger, weathered parchment with visceral imagery serves as a backdrop to the expanded details of armors, weapons, and races. Dungeon and character art is blended carefully to add nuances from the overall fantasy environment of Azeroth.

Lastly, a conscious effort is made to expand the user's experience by offering screen shots, additional art, and very importantly, social media.
